Seth Brasile - Spreading the Word - Loudly
Raised in a completely un-musical home, Seth Brasile didn't start his musical journey until his teens. Starting with the acoustic guitar, he quickly learned a variety of folk and classical guitar techniques. Two years later, a friend from school asked him to play the bass guitar in a Christian metalcore band called "Gauge." Uninterested in either the instrument or the genre, he agreed to fill in, only until they found another bassist. Gradually, as time progressed, Seth realized how interesting the bass guitar is, and how important bass guitar is to a band. Six years later Gauge is touring the country with Seth still on bass.
Seth is committed to changing the role of a bassist in the realm of normally guitar-driven metalcore music. While many bassists in the genre hide themselves behind the guitars by using distortion pedals and by always playing exactly the same thing as the guitars, Seth is willing to do anything, as long as it serves the song. He also realizes the rhythmic importance of the bass and works closely with his drummer to balance each song and accentuate rhythmic grooves that are uncommon, yet definitely welcome, in metalcore music.
Gauge, which recently changed their name to Bringing Down Broadway, is currently on tour and plans to stay on the road for most of 2006. "We're going to hit the road and stay there," says Brasile.
Seth uses our Navigator pre-amp and WT1550, powering a D410XLT. He's planning on stepping up to a D810XLT soon. He chose Eden because, in his own words, "Eden bass gear is versatile, efficient, and well made. Rather than being designed for one application, and doing that one application well, Eden equipment can do practically anything you want it to. I can get that 'perfect' tone that I hear in my head, and when that 'perfect' tone changes in a few months, I'll be able to get that one too."
