Adam Blackstone - Bringing His Own Sound to the World
It was just something about music that always made sense. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, even from the early age of two, a piano was Adam Blackstone’s toy of choice. Growing up in a family of music propelled him to the piano, drums and, professionally, to the bass.
“I knew there was a world of people that needed to hear my sound, I just had to bring it to them,” Adam says. And bring it to them he did, winning countless honors in ensemble music, including a performance with the Mid Atlantic Region Grammy Jazz Band, and over twenty Best Soloist awards in National Jazz festivals while still only a student in high school. Currently, Blackstone is pursuing a degree in Jazz performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was awarded a full Director’s scholarship.
Adam's education, excellence in improvisation, and shear raw talent have created for him a path to some of the most well known artists’ performances and sessions. His performance roster already reads like a list of the Who’s Who in music, including Mary J. Blige. Beyonce, R. Kelly and many more. Most recently he's been playing in the super-band Quest Love of the Roots, with Kid Rock, Dave Navarro and Sheila E, and with the legendary Rick Rubin as the accompaniment to platinum-selling rap artist Jay-Z for the 2004 BET Awards. He can also be seen in Dave Chappelle's Block Party movie.
As a musician, music director and producer, the Adam Blackstone sound is infiltrating the music world through artists of various backgrounds and genres, from The Roots and Joss Stone to Gerald Levert and Jill Scott. In today’s musical climate, where one may ask how success, fame and quality craftsmanship can coexist, Adam puts it best when he says,“I see my opportunities today as a chance to bring quality music back to the forefront. Whether it is R&B/ hip-hop, jazz, pop, rock, gospel, etc., good music will always stand out and last long into the future.”
Adam uses our WT800 amplifier to power D410XLT and D118XLT cabinets. When asked why, his answer is straightforward: "Eden provides the depth and clarity I need on stage. No matter what size venue, big or small, Eden's precise definition is always a constant for my sound. |
