Bass Outside the Box
Born and raised in Innsbruck, Austria, Ariane has been musically active since a very early age and has been a professional musician for well over a decade now. Formal Jazz Bass studies brought her to the US in 1998 as she received a scholarship from the University of Vienna in Austria to the University of Miami, Florida. She now lives in Northern California with her composer husband Wolf.
Back in Austria she was a member of the 'Mozartband', who fuses Mozart with Funk and Rock elements, featuring members of the Dresden Opera House, the Vienna Philharmonics, and members of Rock Star Falco's band. She also worked with numerous Pop, Rock bands, showbands, Big Bands, Jazz bands in Austria and the US. For the last three years Ariane was busy playing (and singing) in the nationally touring Celtic Rock band Tempest, with whom she also recorded their latest album, ‘The Double Cross’. She is currently in transition between bands and focusing on her solo projects. The music she is working on for her own album combines Celtic, African, Bluegrass and European Folk music with Rock and orchestral elements. Ariane also teaches, out of her teaching studio as well as at Rock Camps all across the US.
Regardless of which band she's playing with , Ariane relies on Eden to give her the perfect tone. Currently her bass rigs include a WT800 powering D410XST and D210XLT cabinets, as well as a Nemesis NC210 combo. Why Eden? "Being at home in mainstream, as well as eclectic styles I get to use the bass within and outside of its typical 'boxes'," says Ariane. "Eden gives me the flexibility of sound that I need for my World music or Rock band context, as well as my solo bass and small ensemble or jazz adventures. Eden really carries the nuances and dynamics of my bass nicely!"
