Bones Hillman - Down Low Down Under
For 15 years, Bones Hillman provided the bottom end for one of Australia's most popular and politically active bands, Midnight Oil. While the band split up in 2002, their legacy continues, as does their personal involvement with Environmental and Indigenous issues.
Midnight Oil refused to bend to popular taste by changing their sound to accommodate the airwaves. Instead, they forged a unique style, combined it with politically-charged lyrics and won droves of fans in Australia and the world on their own terms. Whether focusing on guitar-oriented minimalism, or exploring the use of synthesizers to expand their sound, the band remained true to their muse, always testing the boundaries.
Hillman hasn't been idle since the band's demise. He is now a sought-after touring and session artist, recording with such diverse artists as David Dobbyn, The Finn Brothers and Russell Crowe. Future plans revolve around Bones' upcoming move to Nashville, Tennessee.
Bones uses our WT800 and D410XLT cabinets because, as he says, "nothing else can keep up with the demands my sound makes on equipment." His aggressive, overdriven tone has been known to make many a speaker "flap against the grills, but the Eden's don't budge. I won't play anything else." |
