Chris Eike has been playing bass for 20 years and throughout that time he has played in many bands ranging in several styles. He has studied with Al Stouffer, former professor of music at Rowan College (who played with such people as singer Sara Vaughan, jazz musician Bernard Pfeiffer and guitarist Sal Salvador), Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs and Steve Morse Band), Scott McGill (of McGill/Manring/Stevenson) and bassist Mike Richmond (who has played with such legends as Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Jack DeJohnette as well as countless others). Mike Richmond penned the book "Modern Walking Bass Technique" (Ped Xing Music).
His influences range from Dave LaRue, Gary Willis, Jaco Pastorius, Jimmy Johnson, Stu Hamm, Randy Coven, Jeff Berlin, Billy Sheehan, Mingus, Monk, Bill Evans, Scott Henderson, and Steve Morse.
He has currently been playing with the band "Stone Water Groove". This band has been compared to the likes of Dave Mathews and The Black Crowes. Check out their website - www.stonewatergroove.com
Chris has taught at A Lotta Music in Medford Lakes and at The Music Place in Haddon township; currently he's teaching privately out of his home in Glendora NJ.
In December 1998 Scott McGill asked Chris to join his band "The Hand Farm". Early ’99 they played in such places as Canada, Chicago, Philadelphia, and LA opening for such bands as Spock’s Beard, Bon Lozaga, Brett Garsed and T.J. Helmerich. Throughout 1996 and up till late March of 1999 Chris had been playing in the band "Finneus Gauge". They released 2 CD’s More Once More (Train – TR79601) and One Inch of the Fall (Train – TR79603) and mentioned in such magazines as Guitar World and Keyboard magazine.
