A product of music education in junior high-schools, Felix Moreno fell in love with the Double Bass and the world of classical music at age 12. While completing his classical music degree at Northwestern University, Felix laid the groundwork for what would become Future Rock (FR).
The modern instrumental trio, FR is electronic sensory overload. Performing music usually reserved for the DJ/Producer Scene, Moreno utilizes his bass guitar to provide an organic backdrop to the electric chaos onstage. Moreno composes over half of FR's original music. Legendary late night performances at festivals have confirmed FR's status at the top of the live electronic scene. FR has released two albums (Sugar Coated Bullets and Gears) on Harmonized Records and is booked by Philosophy Agency. Venues frequented by Future Rock listed below:
- Highline Ballroom, New York NY
- Bowery Ballroom, New York NY
- Metro, Chicago IL
- House of Blues, Chicago IL
- Stubb's, Austin TX
- The Higher Ground, Burlington VT
- The Fox, Boulder CO
- The Aggie, Fort Collins CO
- World Cafe Live, Philadelphia PA
- House of Blues, Dallas TX
Moreno strives for balance between virtuosity and musicality. His influences include Reed Mathis, Edgar Meyer, and Stanley Clarke. Standing front and center within Future Rock, Moreno provides the pocket-driven back-beat and smörgåsbord of bass tones that define dance-rock. The electronic backdrop of FR provides Moreno opportunity to loop bass lines and perform a variety of rhythmic-slapping-delay syncopations or distortion lead lines uncharacteristic of the instrument. Moreno stays true to the rhythmic foundation while exploring the dynamic range of his instrument. This skill, which distinguishes him from other bassists, is evident in the many precise pops, booms, slaps, and surges in Moreno's clean or dirty bass guitar tones. |
