Gary Jones

WT400 / EM5 Studio Monitors

You'd think that an Eden endorser would be a bass player, right? Well, Gary Jones does play bass (fretless), but he's known best as one of Illinois' hottest guitarists, as well as producer and engineer of everything from Blues and R&B to Metal and Techno.
Even in high school, Gary was a force to be reckoned with. Before graduating, he was already working with the area's best musicians. He also laughingly boasts "I was never in a Battle of the Bands I didn't win." Gary left home at age 18 to tackle life as a Road Musician. He's played in virtually every state in the union, crisscrossing back and forth with several Country, Rock and Blues bands, including Next Exit, Ransom, Hambone and the Rhythm Monsters and his current band, The Goodfellas.
In addition to his guitar work, Gary also writes and produces Techno and World Beat tracks under the moniker Groove Laboratories. When not on stage, you'll find him in his basement studio, Electric Jonseyland, twiddling knobs and tweaking old-school analog synths. "I love those old synths," he says. "There's something about the sounds you get with them that you can't get with the newer digital stuff. And capturing the perfect sound is very important to me."
A producer for more than two decades, Gary's seen his fill of studio gadgets. But when he heard our new EM5 monitors, he had to have a pair. Shortly thereafter, he acquired a WT400 to use on bass tracks. "I'll never go back," he says. "I've used a lot of monitors, even the very high-end units, and I think the EM5s are the best out there. And the WT400 sounds so great in the studio that one client even paid to have his tracks re-amped using the WT400. You can't beat that with a stick!" |
