Joe Sanchez - Beyond Improv
Joe Sanchez was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, but moved to the US at age 3. Like many, he picked up the bass as a teenager, and immediately began working in Rock, Pop, Afro-Cuban and Jazz. In 1990, he began private studies with former Jaco student Jerry Tyler, later studying with Lincoln Goines, John Patitucci and also as a private student of Matthew Garrison. In addition he has attended Master Classes and Bass Nature Camp with his friend and bass legend, Victor Wooten.
For thirty years, Joe has worked as a freelancer with dozens of acts, doing live and session work, in addition to a full teaching schedule. His mastery of numerous styles, combined with his easygoing nature, makes him a popular top call.
As 2008 opens, he looks forward to a busy schedule, which will include an appearance in Victor Wooten's soon-to-be-released instructional video. Also performances with upcoming artist Mark Pires as well as composing and performing as a solo artist. Also in the works are Bass duets with Juan Garcia-Herreros aka Snow Owl in Europe.
Joe uses our WT1205 and D212XLT cabinet to bring his sound to life. He says he uses Eden "because of the sound and reliability. It allows me to focus on my playing and let my true tone come through. Also the Eden team is like a family... people are so important, too! |
