East Coast Strut

Ken Barnum has been tearing up the low end since he was eleven. He loves making original music and will continue to do so as long as it is humanly possible. Currently, Ken is touring with Washington DC's newest band, Monako, as well as with Margot MacDonald, the Washington Area Music Association's 2007 Best New Artist of the Year.

Ken's older brother, a guitar player, chose the bass for him. From the beginning, it was a perfect match. Over the years he has studied at various institutions, under the tutelage of Rufus Reid, Todd Coolman and Michael Bowie, and many more. Barnum received his Bachelor of Music at the Shenandoah Conservatory (part of Shenandoah University) while studying jazz, classical, rock and pop on the electric (4, 5 and 6 string) and double bass. He has an unparalleled passion for music and it comes through in everything he does.

With over 14 years of experience, Ken strives to play every time he can. He can be seen and heard all over the Washington, DC area, palying with the Mid-Atalnatic's finest talent, and can be heard on numerous albums featuring East Coast artists - the latest of which will soon be Monako's debut album, Amnesia.

No matter where the tour bus takes him, Ken uses Eden because "they simply sound better than any bass rig out there," he says. "I've toured the nation several times and played on many different brands. No one even compares to the deep lows, the punchy mids and the crystal clear highs. I can make it sound as dirty as I want for rock or sing clear for jazz. My WT800 and 4x10 XLT's are awesome!
