Mark Brooks is one of New Orleans' most talented, versatile, and sought-after bassists. A protégée of the great Jazz Master, Alvin Batiste, Mark attended Southern University in Baton Rouge (along with his friend, Branford Marsalis), before pursuing his professional career.
Mark has toured and played with an vast array of artists in Jazz, Blues, R&B and Gospel, including Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, Aaron and Charles Neville, Lou Rawls, David (Fathead) Newman, Linda Hopkins, Harry Connick Sr., Henry Butler, Fats Domino, Dr. Michael White, Yolanda Adams and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. He has performed on, numerous recordings and appearances on local television shows, but his most highlighted musical moments were the opportunities to appear on screen and on the sound track of Clint Eastwood's "The Bridges of Madison County", Taylor Hackford's "Ray" (with Jamie Foxx and Terrence Howard), and several national TV shows, including "The Regis and Kathy Lee Show" and "Good Morning America". Mark exemplifies both team and leadership skills which keeps him in demand.
To capture his sound, Mark relies on our WT800B, powering D410XLT and D210XLT cabinets. "I'm a bassist that likes to have both ends of the spectrum," he says. "I like warm and fat low tones with even mids when supplying the bassline, but love bright, crisp notes when it's my turn to solo. With most rigs, you have to sacrifice one or the other but with Eden, I enjoy the best of both worlds." |
