Big, Rich Bass

Born in Detroit and raised in Nashville, Rob Cureton found himself at age 8 in car rides that had everything playing from The Average White Band to Frank Zappa to Stevie Wonder to Prince. Through hearing such a diverse range of music, he started to develop an ear for everything. Shortly after such a discovery, private lessons were a must. Rob, being classically trained, began playing in orchestra's starting in elementary continuing through a few years of college on a bass scholarship. At 16 he played with the Fisk University Jazz Ensemble and studied privately under Regi Wooten (Vic Wooten's older brother) among many other great instructors.

Playing professionally right out of high school, Rob began his carrer on the Nashville circuit. He soon landed a gig on the 2003 John Mayer/Counting Crows tour with Pop/Rock artist Eliot Morris. Shortly thereafter he began playing with Nashville's own "Blues Doctor" Stacy Mitchhart. For two years, Rob honed his chops with 5-hour shows 4 or 5 nights a week. Always seeking higher ground and greater challenges, Rob kept his ears open for new opportunities, which ultimately led Rob to the country super-duo Big and Rich.

Since then Rob has been seen, with such artist as Jewel, John Legend, Marty Stewart, John Rich, Brad Aronld (3 Doors down), Cowboy Troy, Bobby Brown, Dee Snider, Sebastian Bach, Big Kenny, John Popper (Blues Traveler), Julio iglesia,s Jr., James Otto, Heidi Newfield, and Emily West, just to name a few. He can currently be heard with Big and Rich's John Rich, Matt Morris, and new pop artist Britten. His TV appearances have included shows such as: Good Morning America, Dancing With The Stars, Gone Country, CMA Awards, ACM Awards, Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson, and the rest of the "usual suspects". You can also hear him on Direct TV's concert series with Big and Rich, now airing.

To keep the low end firm and authoritative, Rob relies on our WT800, powering D410XLT and D212XLT cabinets. "As all bass players know, the music business is very flaky and inconsistent," Rob says. "But the one thing we can rely and depend on is the sound of Eden."
