Steve Wilson - Zeroing in on Bass

Steve Wilson, a bassist since the age of twelve, is a self-admitted MTV Child. He began on a Sears guitar plugged straight into the family's stereo. He says he "had no idea what I was doing, but I had already started a band." In high school, he formed Union Underground, a band that was very advanced considering the ages of the members. The band regularly played the hot clubs in town - even though none of the members was anywhere near 21! After opening shows for the likes of Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Great White and many more, the band signed to SONY/Portrait records.

Shortly after graduating high school, Steve did his first tour with Lance Keltner in support of his debut album. Returning to his home in Texas, he continued to work locally, finally settling in Dallas. After several years working as a "hired gun", Steve decided it was time to showcase his own singing and writing talents. Along with Chris Johnson and Ryan Martin, he formed American Zeros. (The band recently shortened its name to AM. Zeros.)

Building on their success in Texas, the band is now forcefully tapping into new markets. Their self-titled CD has helped the band gather a strong fan base, and they are currently in negotiations with several record companies.

Steve uses a pair of our Nemesis NC410 combos with a pair of NSP410s underneath. This allows him to have mirror-image rigs on both sides of the stage. While he appreciates the looks, light weight and power, what brought him to Nemesis was "the best punchy mids I've heard in 15 years," he says, combined with "perfect tight bottom, nonabrasive top end - all creating bass bliss."
