The Soul of the Bass
Versatility and flexibility are two concepts that are very familiar to bass guitarist Tony Molina. His Afro-Cuban roots have instilled in him a sense of diversity and cultural multiplicity that has enabled him to adapt to various types of music, including funk, jazz, Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban, R&B, neo-soul, Gospel, and life-changing music. This vast realm of experience has shaped his proficiency on 4-, 5-, and 6-string bass guitars as well as his skill with the synth bass.
Tony has had the esteemed privilege of performing with numerous jazz greats, including Ted Piltzecker, Giacomo Gates, Gary T. Ruggiero, and Brian Torff, as well as with Gospel recording artists Jonathan Dubose Jr., Jonathan Nelson, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, Youthful Praise, Deon Kipping & New Covenant, Pastor Hubert Powell Sr., Hubert "Doobie" Powell, and the legendary Dr. Bobby Jones and JRecords recording artist Jazmine Sullivan.
Tony has played and toured internationally with Sullivan - with whom he currently works - and others, and has appeared on BET, YAHOO Live, The Jay Leno Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. A true virtuoso, Tony's many years of dedication to the perfection of his craft are evident every time his hands touch the strings. His remarkable ability is complemented and enhanced by his genuine heartfelt connection to his instrument. Tony does not just play the bass guitar; he lets the instrument play through him, revealing the bass of his own musical soul.
To make sure the audience hears what Tony hears in his own heart, he relies on Eden exclusively. He currently uses our WT-800C on tour, and a WT-400 at home, both with D-410XLT and D-115XLT cabinets. "I've been using Eden rigs my entire career," he says. "Nothing comes close - nothing!"
