The NAMM Show and What it Can Do for You - by Steve Cook

Wednesday, January 18

Today was another day of preparation. It was also a day of sales meetings. We began the day with breakfast with the sales team, both inside and outside folks. After breakfast, VP of Sales Bill Abel gave his welcome address and spelled out company goals for the year. USM owner Rudy Schlacher then followed up with his vision for the coming year.

David and I then took off for the convention center to continue prepping the Eden display area. We spent most of the day cleaning up the area and checking all the amplifiers. We did manage to find time to head over to the Spector booth to say hello to PJ Rubal and Stuart Spector and see all the cool basses they'd brought to the show.

We also picked out several basses we'll be using to demo Eden and Nemesis rigs. They include two Parkers, a four string and a five, both of which sound great and are set up very well. We've also chosen a very nice new Washburn five string that really shows off the Washburn brand as well as the Eden rigs. Many thanks to Matt Cantlin, Washburn Product Manager for the cool, Metallic blue baby.

Later in the afternoon, David and I gave our presentation to the sales team.We talked about new products and what they could expect from us in the coming year. I also made sure to tell them about the forum, and what a solid community we're building there.

In the evening, the sales crew got together for an informal dinner meeting at ESPN Zone, part of "Downtown Disney". David and I both had the chance to get ideas and suggestions from several of the sales guys to help promote Eden branding in the coming year.

Below are a few pictures we managed to snap throughout the day. Tomorrow, the show begins and the real fun starts. We've got endorser Bill Clements making several appearances, so expect to see some pictures of him.

Here's a shot of a pair of N8 amplifiers and a stack consisting of a DC112XLT and two D112XLT extension cabinets. When Lane demoed this set-up to the sales team, the entire Ernie Ball team stopped what they were doing to listen. Seems that they were amazed at the tone and power of this mini-stack.

On the bottom are the set with 5" monitors, designed for use in home studios. We'll be running both versions through extensive testing in the coming weeks. But so far, so good.
