D610XLT - Not Too Big, Not Too Small - It's Just Right!

Are you like Goldilocks in the home of the Three Bears? Think the D410XLT is too small, but the D810XLT is too big? Do you need something that's "just right"? If so, we've got the perfect cabinet for you - The D610XLT.

The D610XLT is not just a rehash of existing designs. We didn't just build a box 50% larger than the D410XLT and slap in two extra speakers. Instead, our design team (led, as always, by David "Eden" Nordschow, our founder and Chief Propellerhead) built the cabinet to be as small as possible without sacrificing tone. In addition, they voiced it to be as aggressive as possible. After all, we knew this wasn't going to be a cabinet for the faint of heart.

The D610XLT features our legendary EC-1060XL cast-frame speakers and cast-bell tweeter, the standards of the industry. Of course, it also sports our signature metal grill and tweeter level knob. Connections include two NL-4 (Speakon) and two 1/4" connections.

Want to talk specs? Ok, let's do that. The D610XLT will handle 1050 Watts RMS at 6 Ohms. It puts out 107dB (1W @1 meter) and has a frequency range of 50Hz - 14KHz. To translate for non-propellerheads: This means it will handle a LOT of power and is REALLY LOUD.

Like all of our David series cabinets, the D610XLT boasts an impressive array of construction features. We use only AA void-free plywood to ensure consistent tone unit after unit. Other manufacturers may use inferior grade wood that has voids and gaps. Not only does this affect tone - and each cabinet will be affected differently because the voids are different - it also affects durability. We don't use particle board because AA plywood is not only stronger, it's lighter, too. All joints feature Dado and Rabbet construction for a tight, consistent fit that won't loosen over time.

In addition, we use special glue that's so strong it creates a bond that is stronger than the wood. Our cabinets feature massive bracing to ensure there are no unwanted resonances and to make sure they can stand up to the rigors of constant touring. Now, that's Eden tough!

Why is this so important? Inferior cabinets can literally vibrate themselves apart over time. Eden cabinets will last for many, many years. In fact, some of our earliest endorsers continue to use the first cabinets they ever bought.

All speakers in the David line are hand-built right in our own factory. The same goes for our tweeters and horns. In fact, everything that goes into a David cabinet is designed, engineered and built by Eden. This is important enough that it bears repeating: every component is designed, engineered and built by our own technicians in our own factory. Here's why:

By keeping all manufacturing in-house, we can ensure the highest quality control in the industry. We don't have to worry whether a specific part is right - we KNOW it's right, because we built it, and we tested it. NO other manufacturer can say that.

Even more important is the fact that, by designing each component, we can experiment with slight variations of each component and test several prototypes to find the best combination of pieces to make the best sounding, most-durable cabinet available. Again, no other company has this capability. What others only wish for, we do on a daily basis with every product we build.

Our speakers feature cast frames, except the D215XLT, which has a stamped frame for a specific reason. (But that's for a different day.) They also feature edge-wound voice coils for tighter transient response, better tone and higher power handling. Their lighter weight ensures maximum transient response and musical feel. Our horn-loaded cast aluminum tweeters won't vibrate and distort like cheaper units. We use special low-compression loading. This means you get maximum musical feel without the distortion you get with other units, so you won't stress your ears with harshness like some other cabinets.

Eden Crossover

Our crossover features variable tweeter level so you can set the amount of high-end energy to your taste. We use a unique tweeter protection circuit to protect the tweeter from overload, thereby saving you money and hassle.

We also wanted to make the D610XLT as easy to move as possible. So we built rollers into the bottom edge of the back, and extremely comfortable handles into the top edge. This makes it easy for one person to tilt and roll the cabinet. Of course, there are also side handles for lifting.

Finally, like all of our products, we back our cabinets with a two-year warranty so you'll never have to worry. All you do is play and sound great!

Now, all those specs are important. But what's even more important is how a cabinet sounds. Even though the D610XLT has only been on the market a short time, the accolades are already pouring in. For instance:

As we mentioned in our feature on the WT800B, endorser Uriah Duffy has been out on the road for many months with Whitesnake. He's using two D610XLTs, and has another on for a spare, just in case the guitarists get too loud. Point blank, he loves them. He says, "it's the most aggressive, best-sounding cabinet I've ever used. Monster tone!" Now, Uriah has been using Eden cabinets for many years. It's not like he's a newcomer to the Garden.

Our Special Projects Coordinator, Lane Baldwin has been using Eden gear for more than a decade and is a long-term endorser of the company. He finally traded his original D410XLT cabinet for a D610XLT. "I want headroom, and lots of it," he says. "When I first heard the D610XLT, I knew I had to have one. It's hard to believe that David was able to improve on the sound of the D410XLT, but he has. I'm totally addicted to this thing."

On our forum, the praise continues. Here's a sample of what Edenites are saying about the D610XLT:

[T]he tone is awesome. The volume is more than I'll ever use. The best part I noticed right out of the box that in a low volume setting, the "presence" this cabinet has is something I never got out of my 410. The low "B" out of my Steinberger M Series 5 string is solid and tighter than I have ever heard.

The low end will shake you, especially on the low B string. The 610 cab isn't even taxing the 800, not even one wink from a clip light.

I got a few months experience with the D610XLT it's a great cab, it got lots of mid range punch and low end for that matter. It's great for fast finger style playing, very tight sounding, I play a Lakland D4-94 and it cuts thru guitars and drums easy. In terms of sound, I have only good things to say about it.

The D610XLT is a cabinet with tons of signature Eden tone for those who need a big, loud rig without going all the way up to the D810XLT. You'll get everything you expect and need from an Eden cabinet, all housed in the smallest size we could manage without sacrificing tone. Drop into your local dealer and check one out today.
