Nemesis NA320 Amplifier - True Blue Tone

Sure, there are other companies that make a budget line. It's not like we're the only one. But, at Eden, we do things a bit differently. With the Nemesis line, we didn't take the low-quality route just to save a few dollars.

Eden Nemisis NA320 Bass Ampilifer.

The Nemesis line of products is geared toward working professionals and serious hobbyists who want great tone and useable features at an affordable price. We didn't want to trade quality for price, so we packed these amplifiers with many of the same features found in our industry-leading World Tour amplifiers.

For instance, the NA320 has our proprietary Enhance Control, which allows the user to quickly dial in a wide range of great tones. In addition to a 3-band EQ section, we also included a semi-parametric EQ that covers everything from 40Hz to 10KHz, allowing you to dial in an the specific frequency you want to boost or cut. There's also switchable compression, a studio-quality DI with Level control and Ground Lift, Tuner and Headphone outputs, and a pre-EQ Effects Loop. The power amp is protected by an automatic Thermal Protection circuit and forced-air cooling system.

The Input stage of the NA320 is a solid-state design created by the Eden team of engineers. It provides incredible warmth and will accommodate a wide variety of input levels. For very high-level basses, there's a -12dB pad (engaged by pulling the Gain knob) to tame even the hottest signals. It's easy to set the unit for proper gain: with everything set to FLAT or OFF, play your loudest note and turn up the Gain until you see the light blink. Easy, huh?

Once you've set the Input Gain, you can engage the automatic compression circuit. Dial in more or less compression to suit your taste by increasing or decreasing gain.

Next on the set-up list is our proprietary Enhance Control. This is the same Magic Knob found on our World Tour amps. As you turn up the Enhance, you increase the lows, high-mids and highs while, at the same time, the low-mids are cut. Many users find this is all they need to create a Great Bass Tone, leaving the EQ section to dial in a difficult room.

If you do want to tweak your EQ, the 3-band EQ section offers 15dB of boost or cut for Bass, Mids and Treble. Just a click or two is all you need to make significant adjustments to your sound. If there's a specific frequency you want to adjust, the Semi-parametric EQ covers the entire tonal spectrum.

For upright or acoustic/electric players, the Semi-parametric section allows you to tune out a resonant frequency to get rid of annoying feedback. For a Jaco-style fretless tone, roll the Frequency knob to about 550Hz and increase the level a click or two. For an aggressive Rock tone, boost a touch at 2.2Khz. Conversely, for a smooth R&B or Jazz tone, roll off a touch of 2.2KHz. Remember, these are just a few ways you can use this highly effective control. There's a lot of other sounds you can get if you take a few minutes to experiment.

Power is delivered by a smooth and powerful FET amplifier, delivering 320 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms. With +3dB of headroom, it will deliver 640 Watts peak power when needed. For small-medium venues this is more than enough to keep up and cut through.

Like all Eden products, the Nemesis NA320 carries a full two-year warranty. So you know you're covered in the event of failure - a highly unlikely event, but it's nice to know you won't have to worry.

So, how does the NA320 sound in the real world? Here's just a few comments we've read on our forum:

The Nemesis sounds much better. It's warmer, tighter and cuts through, in my opinion, much better than the [competitor].

The Enhance Control is a little gem.

My bandmates love the tone I have.

I find the Nemesis amps have the same transparent sound as Eden.
